My name is Michael Sloan. I'm a qualified Financial Planner, Mortgage Broker, Investment Property Advisor, and an external Property Advisor to National Australia Bank (NAB). I wrote this book for every day Australians who are wanting to make sure they don't get burned when it comes to investing in property.

I started my first business young. By the time I moved to Melbourne in 1999, I had more than a decade's experience and was lucky enough to land my dream job in real estate. However, I quickly became disillusioned with the questionable methods I witnessed (methods I was even expected to follow).

What I saw was manipulative sales techniques. Unethical practices. Pressure tactics. And the fact that "advice" is seldom impartial and in the buyer's best interest.

After a decade, I'd had enough and decided to launch The Successful Investor, a company that specialises in helping average Australians invest in property. I thought that by providing 100% impartial advice, investors could make the only the right choice - and my business would grow on the basis of providing value and being ethical in a largely unethical industry.

As a result, my team and I have now helped our clients buy over one Billion dollars of property, based on the principles found in this book.
